India surpasses China in international student enrollment at U.S. colleges

In the 2023-24 academic year, India became the leading source of international students in the United States, surpassing China for the first time in 15 years. According to the Open Doors Report by the Institute of International Education (IIE), over 331,000 Indian students enroll in U.S. institutions, marking a 23% increase from the previous year. In contrast, Chinese student enrollment declined by 4% during the same period.
